The Berman management teams exercise their knowledge in home building to ensure that every material used is of exceptional quality and that skilled craftsman do the installation to a standard unmatched by our competition. Todd Berman

Growing up in Sylvania, Ohio, Todd Berman had a passion for building and he went on to expand on that interest and passion to create a multi-million-dollar custom home building and housing development company. But rather than starting in the trades right after high school, Todd attended Michigan State Business School, from which he graduated in 1980. After working for another northwest Ohio builder for three years, Todd started The Berman Building Company in 1984.

Under Todd’s guidance, The Berman Building Company grew quickly and the company soon became known as the premier building company in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Todd started The Berman Building Company’s custom remodeling business in 1986. As housing developments became more in vogue, Todd made sure his company was active in developing some of the most prestigious custom built home developments in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Ridge Point Homes was established in 1992 and The Berman Building Company began building complete luxury housing developments in 1998.

The Berman Building Company continued to grow at an astounding pace for a custom home builder throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s.Todd started a commercial construction division in 1994 to meet the diverse building needs of northwest Ohio businesses and corporations. In 2005, he started building his own custom built housing developments. In the past 26 years, Todd Berman has successfully completed more than $230,000,000 in projects as well as thousands of projects including hundreds of custom built homes.

Todd Berman is married with two college-aged children and he enjoys building furniture as a hobby. His personal and professional strengths include being able to identify quality people and lead them, being honest and fair to all and acknowledging mistakes and taking responsibility for them. His ability to communicate well and understand the unique demands and expectations of our clients has helped Todd Berman create a home building company of the magnitude of The Berman Building Company.

Phil Collette

A project manager with The Berman Building Company since the summer of 2005, Phil Collette has more than 30 years of experience in servicing the building and remodeling industry in northwest Ohio.

Phil worked as a Pella Window Distributor for 24 years before joining The Berman Building Company. At Pella Window, he was a proven performer in sales, customer and product service, operations management, computer systems, and software administration.  He brings all of this expertise to overseeing the building of custom built homes in northwest Ohio for The Berman Building Company. While at Pella Window, Phil also assembled and mentored a product support team that was responsible for quoting, ordering, providing technical and custom product information, CAD services, value-add pricing and more. In addition, he also coordinated technical product information between all departments.

Phil graduated from Sylvania High School in 1970 and went on to attend the University of Toledo. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1978 which prepared him well for the complex business of building custom homes.  After graduating, Phil worked for Rentner Lumber for nine years. While working there, he had a diverse variety of experiences working with both home builders and remodeling contractors.  His experience at Rentner Lumber culminated with managing the sales counter and front-end of the store for three years. Detail oriented and technically competent, Phil Collette is an integral member of The Berman Building Company team.

Chuck Diegel

Having worked in the home building and construction business in northwest Ohio for more than 30 years, Chuck brings a wide assortment of diverse experiences to The Berman Building Company. Working as the construction manager in our new home building division, Chuck not only coordinates jobs by working with suppliers and subcontractors as well as clients, he also serves as our service manager for new homes. The Berman Building Company’s service is the best in town due to Chuck’s leadership.

Chuck is a proud graduate of Maumee High School and Penta County Vocational School where he took two years of carpentry classes. Chuck went on to work as a finish carpenter for four years once he was out of school. He also owned his own business doing carpentry work, roofing, siding and other construction work for about three years. Before coming to work at The Berman Building Company, Chuck worked for Todd Berman at another northwest Ohio area builder doing drywall, building decks, carpentry work, windows, countertops and roofing. Chuck came to work at The Berman Building Company in 1984 when the company started.

Chuck is responsible for the management of the second half of construction of all of our larger home projects. He spends a great deal of time working with our clients to ensure every detail is as they want it.

Married with two children, Chuck has been a valuable member of The Berman Building Company team for 23 years. His hobbies include softball, carpentry work, traveling and working with his hands. He also enjoys the volunteer work he does with Little League, coaching and the MS Society.

Christie Filas

Born and raised in Toledo, Christie graduated from The University of Toledo with a bachelor's degree in Business Management.  Christie joined our staff in January 2000 and currently has over 20 years' experience in customer service coming from a variety of industries.

Along with the daily duties to maintain the office, Christie also works closely with several of the general managers during the home construction process.  She coordinates appointments between the managers and the suppliers and subcontractors.  Christie also assists clients with their selections in home building as well as coordinate appointments between her clients and suppliers.  Her experience has made her an efficient and essential member to our office staff.

Currently residing in Sylvania with her husband, daughter and step-son, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family and friends when she is not in the office. 

David Filas

With over 20 years of experience in the construction field, David serves as general manager for The Berman Building Company. He designs, builds and services luxury homes and custom built homes in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. In his 13 years with The Berman Building Company, David has designed and developed a variety of subdivisions featuring our custom built homes and completed two neighborhoods. With an eye for detail and one-of-a-kind blueprints, David has designed about 60 percent of the custom homes that he builds.

Born and raised in the Toledo area, David earned his associate’s degree in architectural technology along with a bachelor’s degree in construction management from The University of Toledo. He is married with a son and a daughter and he enjoys fishing and vacations in Canada.

Aldo Santacroce

Educated in Italy in the fields of residential and commercial construction and surveying, Aldo has been involved in residential design and construction in the Toledo metropolitan area for more than 35 years. He has been designing custom built homes for The Berman Building Company for the past 23 years and has been on the staff of The Berman Building Company for 15 years. He also serves as a project manager.

After studying civil engineering at the University of Toledo, Aldo worked for Scholz Design Co. He went on to design custom homes throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan for Cavalear Corp. Many of the fabulous homes located in the upscale Hamlet Development in Perrysburg were designed by Aldo. He also managed construction and designed homes for the Danberry Corp. While at Danberry, Aldo designed and built the River Lot Development overlooking the Maumee River on River Road in Maumee and south Toledo.

Jeffery Szydlowski

With more than 20 years experience in the construction field, Jeff is a general manager at Ridge Point Homes. In addition to building about 10 custom homes per year, Jeff also writes contracts and performs service work. Jeff brings a wide array of experience in the construction industry to Ridge Point Homes. He has been the general manager for Ridge Point Homes for 12 years, performed service work for five years at another building company and worked as a framer for eight years.

Jeff’s diverse background allows him to manage all aspects of his projects with a special knowledge base many builders do not possess.  Jeff is married with a daughter and a son. His hobbies include snow-mobiling and fishing.

Joseph Torok

Joe has worked closely with Todd Berman for more than 25 years. He started working for Todd Berman at another building company in 1981 by learning the construction trade from the ground up under Todd’s direction. During the early years of his employment with The Berman Building Company, Joe became an established, highly skilled finish carpenter. Over the years, he has become responsible for the entire renovation division of The Berman Building Company. His duties include meeting with clients and quoting for new and existing work.

In addition to overseeing approximately 15 employees and directing their daily activity, Joe has managed all of our renovation projects at The Berman Building Company for more than 21 years. The size of the projects varies from a few hundred dollars to several hundred thousand dollars. Joe also engages with new and existing clients regarding all areas of residential renovation.

Joe is a hard working individual who is concerned with customer satisfaction and has assisted our company in accumulating a large client base as well as numerous repeat customers. Joe strives to assure our projects will be completed on time and within our customer's budget.

Joe graduated in the top three in the construction early placement program at Penta County Vocational High School. He is an essential member of the management team at The Berman Building Company.
